FrieslandCampina Ingredients, a global leader in proteins and prebiotics, has received approval for its milk fat globule membrane (MFGM) ingredient, Vivinal MFGM, for use in infant milk formulas and other food products in Thailand. This milestone follows a comprehensive three-year evaluation by Thailand’s Food and Drug Administration (TFDA).
Vivinal MFGM – a premium whey protein concentrate obtained through the gentle processing of pasteurised cheese whey – contains proteins, lipids and bioactive components such as phospholipids, immunoglobulin G (IgG) and lactoferrin. Clinical evidence shows that MFGM supports infants’ cognitive development and reduces the risk of middle ear infections. Additionally, a recent in vitro study conducted by FrieslandCampina Ingredients was the first to show that whey-derived MFGM has anti-viral effects against respiratory syncytial virus (RSV).
This latest approval means manufacturers of premium nutrition for babies and young children in Thailand can now offer Vivinal MFGM’s science-backed benefits in a wide range of infant and young child food applications. It also underscores FrieslandCampina Ingredients’ position as a trusted leader in early life nutrition, dedicated to providing innovative solutions that support the health and development of infants worldwide.
