Matthew Watson, Group Marketing & Communications Manager, Detmold
Detmold Group, a global leader in sustainable paper and board packaging solutions, is making significant advancements toward its future by developing a state-of-the-art global headquarters at Regency Park in Adelaide. This new facility is designed to bring together teams from eight different locations, creating a central hub for collaboration, innovation, and operational efficiency.
In an interview with NUFFODDS Spectrum, Matthew Watson, the Group Marketing & Communications Manager, discusses how the new headquarters reflects the company’s commitment to sustainability, its growth strategy in Australia and beyond, and its dedication to fostering a strong, values-driven workplace culture. With smart design features and strategic co-location with manufacturing facilities, the development at Regency Park represents a significant milestone in Detmold’s long-term vision.
Could you please share the primary factors that led to the decision to consolidate operations into the new global headquarters at Regency Park?
The Detmold Group currently has several sites across Adelaide’s inner western suburbs – including at Brompton, Hindmarsh and Regency Park. We will be consolidating on one site and bringing our teams together by the end of 2026, including the Detmold Group, Detpak, Detmold Medical, PaperPak, Cup & Carry and our LaunchPad research and development facility.
The new Adelaide headquarters at Regency Park will allow us to foster collaboration and innovation under one roof, while also supporting continued local and international growth.
In what specific ways do you anticipate the new facility will improve collaboration, drive innovation, and enhance productivity across Detmold Group’s diverse business units?
The new Regency Park headquarters will bring more than 240 employees together, from eight sites across Adelaide, under one roof. Our new headquarters will include formal and informal meeting spaces with an open-plan design, breakout areas, an onsite café and a spacious, green outdoor terrace designed for year-round enjoyment.
These spaces will allow people to work together, share ideas and encourage collaboration, increasing engagement and communication within our teams.
Sustainability has been noted as a significant aspect of the new headquarters. Could you provide more details on the specific green design elements being incorporated?
A: Sustainability is a key driver for the Detmold Group, including supporting our business partners and clients to make sustainable choices when it comes to packaging and their impact on the environment.
The new building will adopt green design features to maximise natural lighting and ventilation and shade for energy efficiency, wellbeing and comfort, along with rainfall harvesting and recirculation.
What is the anticipated impact of this new headquarters on Detmold’s growth strategy, both within Australia and internationally?
Having more than 240 staff working in one location will enable us to improve collaboration, generate ideas and work towards sustainability solutions to support our clients in Australia and overseas.
How does this development align with the company’s family values and long-term vision for the business?
Having more staff working at one site will improve engagement between staff and enable us to work together better.
Given the headquarters’ location adjacent to manufacturing and warehouse facilities, what benefits do you foresee in terms of operational efficiency and customer service?
The location of the new headquarters will increase efficiencies, helping us continue to support our customers needs.
