Heritage Foods Limited has inaugurated a new greenfield ice cream manufacturing facility in Shamirpet, near Hyderabad, as part of its strategy to strengthen its value-added dairy portfolio and tap into the growing demand for premium ice cream.

The state-of-the-art facility features modern automated production systems and advanced quality-control infrastructure to ensure consistent product quality and operational efficiency. The plant has an installed production capacity of around 24 million litres per annum, with provisions to scale up capacity in line with future demand.

According to the company, its ice cream business currently generates annual revenues of about Rs100 crore. The commissioning of the new Shamirpet facility is expected to significantly enhance the company’s production capabilities, enabling it to scale operations up to five times the current level over the next seven to eight years in the ice cream segment.

The new facility marks an important step in Heritage Foods’ strategy to expand its value-added dairy portfolio, particularly in high-growth categories such as ice cream and frozen desserts. These segments are witnessing rising consumer demand across urban and semi-urban markets.

The Shamirpet plant also strengthens the company’s manufacturing footprint, supporting product innovation and improving operational scalability. Equipped with automated filling and packaging systems along with stringent quality assurance processes, the facility aims to deliver consistent product standards while enhancing production efficiency.

In addition, the new manufacturing unit is expected to support the company’s expanding distribution network across South and Western India, enabling faster supply and improved service to retail partners.

The development comes amid strong growth in India’s ice cream market, driven by rising disposable incomes, increasing premiumisation and growing consumer preference for packaged dairy products. Heritage Foods believes these favourable market trends will support long-term expansion in the category.
