Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri has reaffirmed the UAE’s commitment to building a resilient food security infrastructure during a visit to Grand Mills, a key player in the country’s flour production sector.
The visit highlighted the government’s ongoing efforts to enhance local food production capabilities, monitor strategic stock levels, and strengthen collaboration between public and private sector stakeholders. Officials reviewed Grand Mills’ operations, including flour production, grain supply chain management, and animal feed manufacturing.
Speaking during the visit, Bin Touq emphasised that the UAE has adopted global best practices to develop a robust food security ecosystem. He noted that local mills play a critical role in meeting domestic demand while also supporting the export of Emirati food products, reinforcing the sector’s competitiveness.
The Minister also underscored the country’s proactive approach to managing supply chains and strategic reserves. Authorities conduct daily monitoring of stock levels across suppliers and retail outlets, alongside periodic assessments of supply and demand dynamics to ensure market stability and uninterrupted availability of essential commodities.
Agthia Group, the parent company of Grand Mills, highlighted the importance of such collaborations. CEO Salmeen Al Ameri stated that Grand Mills continues to play a strategic role in ensuring the consistent availability of flour and feed through efficient operations and reliable supply chains.
With high production capacity and expansion plans underway, Grand Mills is positioned to further support the UAE’s long-term food security goals. Its integrated operations and strong distribution network contribute to maintaining steady supplies of essential food products across the country.
The initiative reflects the UAE’s broader strategy to enhance food system resilience, ensure sustainable supply chains, and safeguard national food security amid evolving global challenges.
