These patented solutions deliver science-based nutrition tailored for every stage of the motherhood journey

Nestlé is expanding its Materna range with a pioneering staged nutrition approach designed to support women’s health from pre-conception through pregnancy and post-partum recovery. Building on last year’s successful launch of Materna Expert Preconception Support, the range now includes Materna Expert Healthy Pregnancy and Materna Expert Post-Birth Recovery.

These patented solutions deliver science-based nutrition tailored for every stage of the motherhood journey. They help prepare the body for pregnancy, boost maternal nutrition, and provide long-term benefits for babies. Backed by more than a decade of research, the solutions are supported by 17 patents and more than 20 peer-reviewed publications, which underscores the scientific depth and Nestlé’s commitment to long-term research. 

Materna Expert Preconception Support and Materna Expert Healthy Pregnancy were informed by findings from the NiPPeR clinical trial. This study followed a group of women from pre-conception through pregnancy and post-birth to test a unique nutritional blend with probiotics, myo-inositol and vitamins.1 Secondary analysis showed a positive impact on maternal micronutrient status from pre-conception to delivery, peripartum health outcomes for mothers, and an association with reduced risk of high weight gain and obesity in children by age two.

Nutrition remains critical after delivery. Materna Expert Post-Birth Recovery completes the portfolio by supporting tissue recovery, energy levels, and delivering appropriate nutrients for breastfeeding, while helping mothers replenish and recover for their own well-being and their baby’s health.

This staged nutritional approach is first available in China, the second-largest country in terms of annual pregnancies, through cross-border e-commerce under the Wyeth brand. Materna Preconception Support was also launched in Brazil last year. More countries will follow next year.
