Spanish Idilia Foods acquires 50% shares of Cacaolat

The operation will allow joint management of reference brands such as Cacaolat, Laccao, ColaCao Energy, ColaCao Shake and Okey, consolidating the solid position of both companies in the dairy shake market

Idilia Foods and Damm have announced an agreement to acquire 50 per cent of Cacaolat Idilia Foods. This move will create the largest smoothie group in Spain. The transaction is subject to approval by the National Markets and Competition Commission (CNMC).

As part of the deal, Cacaolat will combine its well-known brands Cacaolat, Letona, and Laccao with the management, marketing, and distribution of the ColaCao Energy, ColaCao Shake, and Okey Shake brands. This commitment aims to promote the growth of the smoothie category and expand the presence of these brands in both domestic and international markets.

From a production standpoint, the agreement ensures that Cacaolat brand products will continue to be produced at its facility in Santa Coloma de Gramanet, Barcelona.

Following the acquisition, Cacaolat will operate independently under the leadership of its General Director, Josep Barbena, to further accelerate growth in the dairy shake market at both national and international levels.
