Tengzhou, a city with a nearly century-old history of potato plantation, is widely recognised as the hometown of potatoes in China. The local potatoes are well-received in both domestic and foreign markets due to their desirable characteristics, such as good appearance, thin and smooth skin, yellow skin and flesh, pleasant taste, rich nutrition, and high quality.

Tengzhou has the best-yielding double-cropping planting areas for potatoes. It has advanced the deep processing of potatoes and developed potato stable food to extend the local potato industrial chain based on the excellent quality of local potatoes.

A variety of popular potato-based staples and snacks, such as potato pancakes, dumplings, baked cheese and mashed potatoes, and potato salad, have been created to better meet the diverse needs of consumers.

By promoting large-scale agriculture, the city established an industrial chain for potato cultivation, sales, and processing, which was well integrated with related R&D to promote the high-quality development of the local potato industry.
