CP Foods’ egg products certified TGO’s Carbon Footprint Reduction Label

Twenty-five eggs products from Charoen Pokphand Foods Public Company Limited (CP Foods) received “Carbon Footprint Reduction labelling” approved by Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (Public Organization) (TGO). 

Over 700 CP Foods’ products are certified with TGO’s carbon footprint labels from the Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (Public Organization) or TGO, and 30 items are certified for Carbon Footprint reduction labels. These products could reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 1.483 million tons of carbon dioxide equivalent in 2021.

CP Foods Vice President, Kularb Kimsri, said that the company applies ISO 14067 and ISO14040 to identify a “Hotspot” for carbon emission. Also, Multiple efforts has been made to mitigate the footprint throughout supply chain such as reducing food loss in production by using automation to increase production efficiency. The company also turns waste into energy and adopt Solar Power.

Also, the company has redesigned and developed chicken egg packaging, using 80% recycled materials to reduce virgin plastics.

 “It helps to reduce our carbon footprint greatly. The packaging is also easy to recycle and can be used repeatedly, “Ms. Kularb said.

The effort will enable CP Foods to achieve key targets through the carbon footprint and carbon reduction labels. The revenue from green products (CPF Green Revenue) in 2022 is at 33% of the total revenue.
