Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS, Minister Kim Ganglip) recently held the 1st MFDS Global Conference on Foodborne Antimicrobial Resistance (GCFA) virtually in an effort to ramp up international cooperation for managing foodborne antimicrobial resistance (AMR).
It was the first conference held by the Republic of Korea as the Chair of Ad-hoc Codex Intergovernmental Task Force on Antimicrobial Resistance (TFAMR) and it was intended to serve as a platform for sharing policies on AMR management and the necessity of implementing international standards that will be set by TFAMR and the importance of strengthening international cooperation.
MFDS organised this conference to provide a forum for countries around the world to share various information and ideas on how to manage foodborne AMR, and to make its utmost efforts to play a pivotal role in strengthening global cooperation by working closely with international organizations in diversified ways.
