Royal DSM, a global science-based company in Nutrition, Health and Sustainable Living opens at Thailand as the fifth largest market for DSM in the Asian region
Royal DSM, a global science-based company in Nutrition, Health and Sustainable Living, on 29 May 2019, announces the opening of its new office in Thailand. The company is looking to expand and strengthen its footprint in the market, building on an established presence of more than 30 years.
With the aim of deepening DSM’s connection to and in Thailand, the new office serves as a catalyst for growth in the market and signals DSM’s intent to further develop its’ operations in a country where there is projected growth of more than 1%.
As a purpose-led and performance have driven company, DSM seeks to extend its presence in Thailand with sustainable, innovative solutions that not only reinforce the company’s commitment to the South East Asia region but also meet the needs of both Thai customers and those from surrounding countries.
Commenting on the official opening, Pieter Nuboer, President DSM Nutritional Products, Asia Pacific, said, “Thailand is the fifth largest market for DSM in the Asian region and the opening of these new facilities represents a clear statement of intent regarding our long-term commitment to the country. Attracting and retaining the best talent is key to drive innovation in close collaboration with our loyal customer base in Thailand and the Indochina region, these facilities help us in doing that.”
The potential in Thailand as a growth market spans across the DSM portfolio, with products, services and solutions from both the nutrition and materials’ arms of the business.
More specifically, an increase in demand for fish and fish-based products in South-East Asia has seen the region emerge to account for more than one-third of the world aquaculture production with a significant rise of the aquaculture industry in Thailand.
The investment committed by DSM will support sustainable growth in the industry by providing solutions that improve yields and circularity.
DSM has a well-established history in Thailand with an animal nutrition micro-nutrient plant located just outside of Bangkok, providing customised solutions for domestic clients as well as being exported to neighbouring countries.
DSM’s personal care and aroma business launched its skin care solution “In & Out”, which tapped into Thailand’s sun protection product industry and focused on meeting growing local consumer demand. Last year, DSM also announced its collaboration with Starboard, a world-leading Watersports company based in Thailand, where DSM’s Akulon® RePurposed resin, fully recycled from discarded nylon-based fishing nets is used in surfboard components.
The move also reconfirms DSM’s Engineering Plastics business commitment to the Thai and South East Asian market, continuing to bring value to the automotive, electrical, electronics and local industrial segments and assisting customers from both within Thailand and surrounding countries with application development and technical support.
