The launch comes as the EU prepares to enforce new Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) requirements mandating compostable labels on fruits and vegetables
TIPA, a global leader in compostable packaging, has introduced certified home-compostable fruit and vegetable stickers in collaboration with Bio4Life, a pioneer in compostable adhesive solutions. The innovation combines TIPA’s high-performance compostable film with Bio4Life’s certified adhesive to create a food-safe sticker that securely adheres to fresh produce and naturally composts with organic waste.
The launch comes as the EU prepares to enforce new Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) requirements mandating compostable labels on fruits and vegetables. TIPA’s stickers are designed to meet these sustainability standards while maintaining functionality and durability.
Engineered with elasticity, the stickers adapt easily to a wide variety of produce skins, from citrus fruits like oranges and lemons to bananas, avocados, eggplants, zucchinis, cucumbers, apples, pears, mangoes, and even watermelons. In addition to fresh produce, they can be used for packaging labels such as PLUs, ingredient lists, branding, and barcodes, as well as closures for food and fashion packaging.
The labels also offer strong moisture resistance, retaining flexibility and durability across different storage environments—room temperature, refrigeration, and freezing. Unlike conventional labels, these compostable stickers prevent black marks or discolouration on produce, ensuring a clean, consumer-friendly appearance.
By combining innovation with compliance, TIPA and Bio4Life are setting a new benchmark for sustainable labelling in the fresh produce and packaging industries.
