Government commits $1Mn to future casino beef week events in Australia

The new funding is expected to enhance the event’s reach, attract greater national and international interest, and deliver lasting economic benefits to the region

As thousands flock to the Northern Rivers for this year’s iconic Casino Beef Week, the Albanese Government has announced a major funding boost for the beloved regional event, pledging $1 million over three years to support its continued success in 2026, 2027, and 2028.

The funding, revealed as part of the 2025–26 Budget under the Showcasing Australian Agriculture – Regional Trade Events Program, reaffirms the Government’s commitment to celebrating and strengthening regional Australia’s agricultural legacy.

Held annually in the Richmond Valley since 1982, Casino Beef Week has become one of the country’s largest and longest-running beef festivals. The event brings together farmers, producers, agri-businesses, and the wider community to showcase the best of Australia’s beef industry through competitions, food, music, and entertainment.

Running from 24 May to 1 June this year, the week-long celebration features cattle competitions, rodeos, street parades, live music, and a host of family-friendly activities — all spotlighting the town of Casino and its proud agricultural roots.

Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, Julie Collins, underscored the importance of supporting such regional events.

“As a government, we are committed to supporting regional Australia, and that means doing our part to support events like Casino Beef Week that will showcase the Australian beef industry,” Minister Collins said.

Australia’s beef export industry is worth more than $12 billion and is our most valuable agricultural export.

“Our Government will continue to back our proud beef industry and this new investment is another example of this commitment.

“I know these last few weeks have been tough for NSW farming communities and I’m wishing the organisers of Casino Beef Week all the best for a successful event.”

The new funding is expected to enhance the event’s reach, attract greater national and international interest, and deliver lasting economic benefits to the region.
