Sulpack is a PFAS-free parchment paper specifically developed for fresh and greasy applications and offers a natural grease barrier for packaging
Ahlstrom, a global leader in fibre-based speciality materials, has received Home compostability certification from the Australasian Bioplastics Association (ABA) for its Sulpack product range. Sulpack is a PFAS-free parchment paper specifically developed for fresh and greasy applications and offers a natural grease barrier for packaging, such as butter wraps and cheese interlayers. The product can be used either as a mono-material or in laminated structures.
Ahlstrom’s Sulpack products have achieved the ABA certification, complement the European TÜV Home and Industrial Compost certifications, and the North American BPI compostability certification. Sulpack products offer a unique combination of functionality and sustainability tailored to regional needs.
These certifications enable Ahlstrom’s customers, converters and brand owners to effectively meet their sustainability goals. The Australasian Bioplastics Association certifies compostable products through a rigorous process to comply with standards guaranteeing that certified products will fully compost.
“Sulpack is a truly unique product range that transforms natural cellulosic fibres into a functional material without adding any chemicals,” says Guillaume Latourrette, Vice President of Ahlstrom’s Global Food Packaging business. “To phase out single-use plastics, compostability certification is crucial. Ahlstrom’s ABA certification strengthens our flexible packaging portfolio, expanding opportunities in Australia and New Zealand while reinforcing our commitment to sustainable solutions.”
