UAE and Japan sign MoU for food security

UAE-Japan’s Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Initiative (CSPI) to implement various projects and programmes between the two countries

Dr Amna bint Abdullah Al Dahak, Minister of Climate Change and Environment UAE, met with Sakamoto Tetsushi, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan, to discuss ways to expand cooperation between the two countries in the areas of food security and advanced climate-smart agriculture. This meeting is part of the UAE-Japan’s Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Initiative (CSPI), aimed at implementing various joint projects and programs. It reflects the shared goals of the UAE and Japan to promote sustainable economic growth and enhance collaboration across different fields.

The two ministers explored opportunities to enhance cooperation in agriculture and fisheries, building upon the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (MoCCAE) and the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries in Japan. They also discussed strategies to increase food trade between the two countries.

During the meeting, Al Dahak emphasised the strong relationship between the UAE and Japan, highlighting significant achievements such as the strategic partnership in various areas, particularly in bolstering food security.
