In order to further expand its bakery business, UK-based William Jackson Food Group is planning to invest £40m to build its second bakery in the Corby region of the Northamptonshire County.
The company noted that its plans have been approved by the Corby Borough Council for building a new bakery in Corby, which is expected to create nearly 100 new employment opportunities in the region.
Norman Soutar, CEO, William Jackson Food Group said, “The Group and its family shareholders have invested significantly in the Hull bakery over recent years, and indeed continue to invest in the Hull site. We take a long-term approach to the individual businesses in the Group, allowing them time to grow and develop.”
Simon Ball, Jacksons managing director said, “The new bakery will help us grow as a business and allow us to build on the great work we do in Hull.”
The new bakery will be built on a ten-acre site in Genner Road on the Willowbrook East Industrial Estate in Corby, which was purchased by the company earlier this year in February.
Upon completion, the new bakery will be engaged in the production of bread for sandwich manufacturers as well as foodservice customers and is expected to provide additional support to Jackson’s main bakery located in Hull City, England.
