Syria continues to rank among the most food-insecure nations globally, with its dairy sector severely impacted by prolonged conflict

In a significant move to strengthen regional food security and revive critical agricultural systems, Baladna Food Industries has announced an advisory engagement with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) to help rebuild dairy supply chains in Syria.

The initiative, revealed via a LinkedIn post by Baladna, will focus on assessing milk production capacity, logistics infrastructure, and market dynamics, with the aim of restoring a sustainable dairy value chain in the conflict-affected country. A key priority of the project is reintegrating smallholder farmers and supporting rural livelihoods.

Operating under the umbrella of the World Bank Group, IFC will collaborate with Baladna through a phased approach. The engagement will begin with analytical studies and on-ground field assessments, followed by the development of practical and context-specific supply chain models tailored to Syria’s current realities.
