Global packaging and recycling specialist ALPLA Group has inaugurated its first base plant in the Philippines, marking a significant milestone in its Asia-Pacific (APAC) expansion strategy. Located in Filinvest Technology Park, Ciudad de Calamba, the facility has been operational since the summer of 2025.

Spread across 4,800 square metres, the new plant integrates production, administration, and logistics under one roof. The company’s move builds on its earlier presence in the Philippines, where it began operations in 2014 as an in-house partner manufacturing preforms and bottles within customer facilities.

The Calamba plant represents ALPLA Group’s 200th production facility globally, out of a current network of 206 sites. It is designed to serve a broad customer base, including multinational FMCG companies, global beverage brands, and local manufacturers.

The facility manufactures plastic containers, bottles, and closures using three key technologies: Injection Stretch Blow Moulding (ISBM), Extrusion Blow Moulding (EBM), and Compression Moulding (CM). With four production lines currently installed and capacity to add five more, the plant is positioned for future expansion.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony held on 19 March, attended by around 80 guests, including Johann Brieger, COO, Walter Ritzer highlighted the strategic importance of the investment. He noted that the expansion would strengthen the company’s footprint in the APAC region and enhance its ability to serve both local and international customers.

Ronald Tichelaar emphasised the growth potential in the Philippine market, stating that the facility enables the company to offer integrated system solutions with global quality standards and efficient production capabilities.

The plant currently employs around 40 people, with plans to scale operations as demand grows. According to Christian Kotschy, establishing the facility involved challenges such as deploying new technologies and sourcing skilled talent, but the team is now well-positioned for future growth.

With this investment, ALPLA Group aims to deepen its regional presence and tap into the expanding packaging demand across Southeast Asia.
