Intertek Caleb Brett expands testing capabilities for animal fats and used cooking oils

This enhancement makes New Plymouth the only laboratory in New Zealand capable of providing comprehensive testing for these critical materials

Intertek, a leading Total Quality Assurance provider to industries worldwide announced the expansion of its New Plymouth laboratory’s testing capabilities to include full specification analysis of Animal Fats (AF) and Used Cooking Oils (UCO). This enhancement makes New Plymouth the only laboratory in New Zealand capable of providing comprehensive testing for these critical materials, which are key inputs in the production of biofuels.

As a global leader in agriculture, New Zealand produces substantial quantities of animal fats, a significant portion of which are exported to markets such as the United States and Singapore, where they are refined into renewable fuels.

Intertek Caleb Brett has made significant investments to upgrade its New Plymouth laboratory in response to growing industry demand for higher standards in biofuel production. These upgrades have enabled the lab to offer enhanced testing capabilities essential for maintaining rigorous quality control and ensuring biofuel production meets stringent global standards.
