China approves three Thai chicken export factories

Thailand’s poultry exports to other markets are also increasing, with major destinations including Japan, the United Kingdom, Europe, Malaysia, and South Korea

China’s General Administration of Customs (GACC) has approved three additional Thai chicken export factories, bringing the total number of certified factories in Thailand to 26. This approval highlights China’s confidence in Thailand’s poultry production and processing standards, which align with global requirements such as Good Hygiene Practices (GHPs) and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP).

According to Thai news agency, the certification process involves comprehensive inspections to ensure compliance with the agreement between Thailand’s Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives and China’s Customs Office. Somchuan Ratanamungklanon, the Director-General of the Department of Livestock Development (DLD), welcomed the approval and recognised China as a significant trading partner for Thailand’s poultry sector.

In 2023, Thailand exported frozen poultry products to China valued at 16.9 billion baht, surpassing 8 billion baht in the first half of 2024. The DLD anticipates that poultry exports to China will exceed 18 billion baht by the end of the year.

Thailand’s poultry exports to other markets are also increasing, with major destinations including Japan, the United Kingdom, Europe, Malaysia, and South Korea. In 2023, total poultry exports amounted to 149.975 billion baht, and the first six months of 2024 saw a 7 per cent year-on-year increase, totalling 76.745 billion baht.
