SFA recalls yoghurt snack from New Zealand over undeclared milk allergen

All batches of the 10g size Kiwigarden Coconut Vanilla Dairy Free Yoghurt Drops are involved in the recall

An importer has been instructed by the Singapore Food Agency (SFA) to recall a yoghurt snack because it contains an undeclared milk allergen. The product, known as Coconut Vanilla Dairy Free Yoghurt Drops, has been voluntarily recalled by Kiwigarden, a New Zealand food manufacturer. All batches of the 10g size Kiwigarden Coconut Vanilla Dairy Free Yoghurt Drops are involved in the recall.

The SFA has directed the importer, Optimo Foods Pte Ltd, to recall the affected product as it was imported into Singapore. The recall is ongoing. According to SFA, allergens in food could cause an allergic reaction in individuals who are sensitive to them. Singapore’s food regulations require food products containing ingredients that may cause hypersensitivity to be declared on the food packaging labels to protect consumers with food allergies.

The SFA said that the affected product does not pose a food safety issue to consumers at large, except for those who are intolerant or allergic to it. Consumers who have purchased the implicated product and are intolerant of or allergic to milk should not consume it. The SFA advised those who are intolerant or allergic to milk and have consumed the implicated product to seek medical advice. They may also contact their point of purchase for enquiries.
