NRTC Group, a core subsidiary of Ghitha Holding PJSC and part of International Holding Company, has entered into a strategic partnership with ne’ma to support the UAE’s target of cutting food loss and waste by 50 per cent by 2030, aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 12.3.

The collaboration highlights increasing public-private sector cooperation to create a more sustainable and circular food system in the UAE, combining ne’ma’s national efforts to reduce food waste with NRTC Group’s expertise in sourcing, logistics and food distribution.

As part of the partnership, NRTC Group will contribute operational capabilities, supply chain infrastructure and data-driven insights to help identify, measure and reduce food loss at critical stages across the food value chain.

The initiative will also support food rescue programmes, Zero Food to Landfill efforts, and broader ecosystem engagement activities aimed at improving efficiency and sustainability across the UAE food sector.

In addition, both organisations will collaborate on awareness campaigns, knowledge-sharing forums and policy discussions, while enabling NRTC Group to contribute to national sustainability reporting and impact measurement frameworks.

Khuloud Al Nowais, who also serves as Secretary General of the ne’ma Steering Committee, said the partnership reflects the importance of strong private-sector engagement in delivering measurable progress.

“The partnership with NRTC Group reinforces ne’ma’s collaborative and coordinated approach to addressing food loss and waste,” she said.

She added that private-sector partners with significant operational reach are essential to improving resource efficiency, reducing waste across critical supply chain points and advancing the UAE’s broader food security ambitions.

Mohammed Alrifai said the collaboration aligns with the company’s commitment to supporting the UAE’s national food security and sustainability priorities.

“Addressing food loss is a critical part of improving supply chain efficiency and strengthening resilience across the food ecosystem,” Alrifai said.

He added that NRTC aims to leverage its operational expertise and data insights through the partnership to deliver measurable and practical impact across the country’s food system.

The partnership forms part of the UAE’s broader efforts to strengthen food resilience, improve sustainability outcomes and accelerate progress toward national environmental targets.
