Spain-based Nektium has been working on a triple impact path focused on environmental, social, and economic sustainability
Botanicals supplier Nektium has secured B Corp status following a comprehensive assessment of its social and environmental performance, legal accountability, and public transparency.
The company, whose portfolio features ingredients including Rhodiolife, Xanthigen, Zynamite and Vanizem, is one of the first in the botanical sector to earn the certification under the rigorous new “V2.2” standards from B Lab.
Unlike previous models that relied on an aggregate score, the 2026 framework requires companies to demonstrate high performance in all 10 key impact topics. These include:
Climate action
Living wages
Ethical governance
Environmental stewardship
As Nektium operates in the health sector, it was also obliged to meet specific requirements to ensure its mission is aligned with public welfare.
Miguel Jiménez, Nektium’s President and CEO, said: “B Corp status now demands a holistic approach that covers everything from supply chain management to product life cycle. By meeting these stringent requirements, we can help our customers meet their own corporate social responsibility obligations. Just as importantly, they can rest assured that we maintain a truly robust, ethical operation across every dimension of our business.”
In recent years, Spain-based Nektium has been working on a triple impact path focused on environmental, social, and economic sustainability. It has made various investments in eco-friendly technologies as well as its people, partners, and research capabilities.
Achievements include:
ISO 14001 certification for its Environmental Management System
CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora) certification for its entire Rhodiolife Rhodiola rosea inventory
A first BioTrade permit in accordance with the Nagoya Protocol for sustainable and ethical sourcing that promotes fair and equitable sharing of benefits
EU organic certification (Regulation 848/20018) for ingredients including devil’s claw, elderberry, ginger, orange, lemon, mandarin, and grapefruit
Ongoing Rhodiola rosea cultivation project that meets criteria for certification under the USDA National Organic Program
Nektium has also implemented an Impact Business Model that is focused on ethical sourcing and the scientific transformation of botanical resources into high-efficacy health solutions.
All bioactive compounds are produced according to the company’s ‘quality by design’ approach. This prioritises raw material traceability, compliance and safety, and the preservation of biodiversity through sustainable extraction technologies.
Beatriz Ercilla, Nektium’s Quality, Regulatory & Sustainability Director, said: “Nektium is delighted to be part of the B Corp community. We have invested significant time and effort to attain this prestigious certification. Our commitment to conducting business differently will serve as a source of inspiration for others and will help to disseminate the notion that we can redefine success in business to encompass people and planet as well as profit.”
