Danone and Arcor have announced the creation of a new joint venture in Argentina, marking a significant expansion of their long-standing strategic alliance in the country’s dairy sector.

The new entity will combine Danone’s local dairy operations, including Danone Argentina SA, with Mastellone Hermanos SA, a historic player in Argentina’s dairy industry, and Logistica La Serenísima, their shared logistics subsidiary.

Building on more than two decades of collaboration, the joint venture aims to create an integrated dairy business that leverages the combined strengths, scale, and expertise of both companies. The partnership is expected to drive faster innovation, improve operational efficiency, and expand commercial reach across Argentina’s dairy market.

The venture will also unlock new growth opportunities by utilising an extensive manufacturing network of 11 production plants across the region. These facilities produce a wide range of dairy products, including milk, dulce de leche, cheeses, butter, cream, yoghurt, and desserts.

Following the transaction, Danone will hold a 50 per cent stake in the joint venture, sharing equal control with Arcor. The investment will be reflected as an equity-accounted entity in Danone’s financial statements.

Antoine de Saint-Affrique, Chief Executive Officer of Danone, said the move reinforces the company’s long-term commitment to Argentina and the broader Latin American market. “Combining our assets will create a powerful growth platform with more opportunities for innovation, operational efficiency, and greater reach,” he noted.

Alfredo Pagani, President of Arcor, described the venture as a strategic milestone that will enhance both companies’ commercial and operational capabilities. He added that the alliance will accelerate growth through an integrated approach focused on high-value-added dairy products.

The joint venture underscores both companies’ ambition to strengthen their presence in Argentina’s competitive dairy sector while delivering quality, nutritious products to a broader consumer base.
