Developed in partnership with Tetra Pak Vietnam, the new $4 million production line features Tetra Recart technology

Dong Giao Export Food Joint Stock Company (Doveco) has officially inaugurated Vietnam’s first paper-can production line using advanced Swedish technology, marking a significant milestone in the nation’s efforts to modernise agricultural processing and enhance its position in the global value chain.

Developed in partnership with Tetra Pak Vietnam, the new $4 million production line features Tetra Recart technology, currently the most advanced system for processing fruits and vegetables into paper-based cartons. This innovative technology extends product shelf life without preservatives or refrigeration, while maintaining the natural flavour, colour, and nutritional value, key requirements for premium markets such as Japan and the European Union.

With a capacity of up to 6,000 cartons per hour, the production line not only improves processing efficiency but also reduces packaging, energy use, and labour costs. Most importantly, it significantly minimises environmental waste, supporting Vietnam’s push for more sustainable agriculture and food production.

“We are not investing for the present, but for the future of Vietnamese agricultural products,” said Dinh Cao Khue, Chairman of Doveco’s Board of Directors. He emphasised the long-term strategic vision behind the investment, aimed at helping Vietnamese producers meet the strictest international standards.

Doveco’s relationship with Sweden’s Tetra Pak dates back to 2002, when the company first installed a concentrated pineapple production line in Ninh Binh. That early success laid the foundation for this latest collaboration in Son La, a province experiencing rapid agricultural development.

In a promising sign of the project’s potential, a batch of sweet corn packaged using the new Tetra Recart system has already been exported to Japan, one of the world’s most demanding markets. This successful shipment signals new opportunities for processed agricultural products from Vietnam’s Northwest region, particularly in value-added exports.

With this investment, Doveco continues to affirm its role as a pioneer in sustainable, high-tech agricultural processing, bringing Vietnamese produce closer to global consumers.
