Australia’s núaFEEDs to transform UAE’s food waste into livestock feed

The UAE was chosen as the company’s first step toward global expansion, drawn by the nation’s ambitious sustainability agenda, strong food security framework

The UAE’s ongoing drive toward food security and sustainability is set to gain fresh momentum with the entry of núaFEEDs, a pioneering Australian agri-tech company. Having finalised its registration in the UAE, the company is preparing to establish a facility that will transform surplus bread waste into high-quality, nutritious livestock feed, tackling a pressing regional issue: food waste.

With a legacy of over 25 years from its family-run operation in Western Australia, núaFEEDs, founded by Chava and Eric Berrill, brings a proven, innovative solution to the UAE. The company addresses three key challenges in the food and agriculture sector: the high and volatile cost of livestock feed, the growing problem of food waste, and the expense of waste disposal.

The UAE was chosen as the company’s first step toward global expansion, drawn by the nation’s ambitious sustainability agenda, strong food security framework, and progressive circular economy policies.

núaFEEDs’ arrival offers significant benefits for both industry and government stakeholders. Businesses producing grain-based food waste, such as bakeries, food manufacturers, and major retailers, stand to benefit through reduced waste disposal costs, efficient collection systems, and verifiable reductions in water usage and greenhouse gas emissions. Every tonne of bread repurposed by núaFEEDs helps avoid over 500 kg of CO₂ emissions and conserves approximately 13 cubic meters of water used in grain production.
