KM Packaging announced the release of K-Peel 4G, a new mono PET lidding film specification.
K-Peel 4G boasts a low seal initiation point and is capable of sealing through contamination. Clean peels are achievable from as little as 110°C and 0.3 seconds dwell time.
This low seal initiation point also means it’s compatible with all PET trays and provides a clean, strong peel for APET and rPET trays. Trays which present sealing challenges because of thickness or available sealing area are also a key area where K-Peel 4G can perform well.
K-Peel 4G offers a clean peel for ambient, chilled or frozen applications and is ovenable. Additionally, it has anti-fog properties, being compliant with OM7 migration testing, giving it a vast range of use cases across the breadth of the food industry.
Alan Lockhart, Commercial Director – UK & Eire, comments on the launch of this new material:
“We’re pleased to be able to launch this new material into the marketplace. The advantages of a low seal imitation temperature mean K-Peel 4G has a broad range of lidding applications across the industry. The adaptability of 4G is what sets it apart from the rest.”
The material is available in two gauges, 21 microns and 25 microns. This lower gauge can make it the right choice for reducing the thickness of films in production.
Alan Lockhart, Commercial Director – UK & Eire, comments on the materials position with regards to upcoming EPR legislation:
“Whilst the impact of EPR and RAM may question the cost impact on PET-based films, ultimately their efficiency, low weight, ovenability and ease of use prove that they still have a relevant and valuable place in the tray sealing and lidding film arena.”
