The mission saw participation from 15 Queensland businesses, which collectively generated 191 new trade leads and strengthened commercial ties across the Greater Bay Area
The Crisafulli Government has announced a significant boost to Queensland’s export portfolio, with $3.99 million in new export outcomes secured during a high-level trade mission to China.
Led by Minister for Finance, Trade, Employment and Training, Ros Bates, the delegation participated in HOFEX 2025, one of Asia’s largest food and hospitality trade expos. The mission saw participation from 15 Queensland businesses, which collectively generated 191 new trade leads and strengthened commercial ties across the Greater Bay Area.
“This is a major win for Queensland exporters and a clear demonstration that we’re back on the global stage,” Minister Bates said. “We’re creating jobs, opening new markets and supporting our businesses to grow internationally.”
As part of the mission, the Queensland delegation conducted 17 strategic meetings across Shanghai, Hong Kong and Shenzhen. A key milestone was the official opening of a new Trade and Investment Queensland (TIQ) office in Shenzhen, aimed at deepening Queensland’s economic engagement with the rapidly growing Greater Bay Area.
According to Minister Bates, the move has already begun delivering tangible outcomes. “In just seven months, our TIQ offices in the region have generated over $46 million in commercial outcomes. That’s a powerful return on investment and a vote of confidence in our renewed engagement with China.”
The trade mission aligns with the Queensland-China Trade and Investment Strategy 2025, a cornerstone of the Crisafulli Government’s economic plan focused on driving high-value exports and investment in key regional industries.
Minister Bates also took aim at the previous administration, saying: “Labour pulled Queensland out of global trade forums. We’ve re-engaged and reasserted Queensland’s leadership across Asia.”
The success at HOFEX 2025 marks a new chapter for Queensland’s trade ambitions, signalling strong momentum for exporters and a growing appetite for Queensland products in the Chinese market.
