Saudi Arabia’s total date production exceeded 1.9 million tonnes last year
The Saudi National Centre for Palms and Dates announced that the Kingdom’s date exports reached a value of SR1.695 billion in 2024, marking another milestone for the sector.
According to data from the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT), Saudi Arabia’s total date production exceeded 1.9 million tonnes last year, highlighting the country’s strong agricultural capacity in the palm and date industry.
Saudi dates have made significant progress in global markets, reaching 133 countries around the world. In 2024, the export value grew by 15.9 per cent compared to 2023, driven by ongoing efforts to enhance product quality and expand international marketing initiatives. This growth reflects the increasing importance of the palm and dates sector in supporting Saudi Arabia’s national economy and diversifying its revenue sources.
Since the launch of Vision 2030, aimed at strengthening non-oil economic sectors, the Kingdom’s date exports have undergone a major transformation. Since 2016, the value of exports has soared by 192.5 per cent, achieving a cumulative annual growth rate of 12.7 per cent. This consistent growth confirms Saudi Arabia’s rising status as a key player in the global dates market.
