Japan’s Nissui acquires Musashino Foods

The company has been expanding its business by focusing on frozen-sliced sushi products

Nissui Co., Ltd., a company based in Minato-ku, Tokyo, has announced that it has acquired Musashino Foods Co., Ltd. The latter, which specialises in producing processed seafood products for raw consumption, will serve as Nissui Group’s production base for processed marine products for raw consumption. The acquisition is in line with the marine products business’s objectives of the medium-term management plan “Good Foods Recipe 1” (FY2022-2024), which aims to expand the aquaculture business and promote the use of food products. All employees of Musashino Foods Co., Ltd. will continue to be employed.

The company has been expanding its business by focusing on frozen-sliced sushi products. With the acquisition, Nissui will utilise its production capabilities to begin producing products for raw consumption using Nissui’s domestic and overseas farmed fish and wild fish. As a first step, they will collaborate with a salmon farming business in Hirota Bay, in the same city and prefecture, to produce raw edible products from the fish caught after June of this year. The aim is to develop this into one of their main businesses in the future.
