Indian Government launches plantation drive for oil palm cultivation under National Mission for Edible Oils

Three major oil palm processing companies, Patanjali Food Pvt. Ltd., Godrej Agrovet, and 3F, are actively promoting and participating with farmers

The Indian Government has launched the National Mission for Edible Oils- Oil Palm to increase the oil palm production area to 10 lakh hectares and boost Crude Palm Oil production to 11.20 lakh tonnes by 2025-26. This initiative aims to help India become self-sufficient by reducing the import burden while increasing the production of edible oils. To achieve this, State Governments and oil palm processing companies have launched a Mega Oil Palm Plantation drive from the 25th of July 2023 to the 12th of August 2023.

Three major oil palm processing companies, Patanjali Food Pvt. Ltd., Godrej Agrovet, and 3F, are actively promoting and participating with farmers in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Odisha, Karnataka, Goa, Assam, Tripura, Nagaland, Mizoram, and Arunachal Pradesh to expand their oil palm cultivation. The drive began on 25th July 2023 in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Odisha, Goa, and Karnataka, covering almost 7,000 hectares. Andhra Pradesh and Telangana are expected to cover more than 6,500 hectares by the 8th of August.
