Meituan is transforming how Chinese people eat and how local merchants operate their daily business

Meituan Dianping, China’s leading e-commerce platform for services, will make its CES debut and showcase its innovative autonomous delivery technologies at CES 2019, which will be held in Las Vegas from January 8 to 11, 2019.

Meituan is transforming how Chinese people eat and how local merchants operate their daily business. As the world’s largest on-demand food delivery service provider, Meituan has built and currently operates the world’s largest on-demand delivery network in terms of the number of deliveries. A pioneer in interactive intelligent delivery in China, Meituan has been investing in big data, AI, and other technologies to explore the use of autonomous driving solutions for driverless delivery.

At CES 2019, the Company will showcase the Meituan Autonomous Delivery (MAD), an innovative and holistic solution to driverless delivery, which incorporates an order platform, dispatch system, and road network logistics with big data optimization. The MAD solution uses a variety of intelligent delivery devices, such as unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), and high/low-speed autonomous delivery vehicles and robots, to meet the needs for on-demand delivery in various scenarios such as buildings, business campuses and public roads. A large screen display at CES will demonstrate the trial autonomous delivery operations in China.

The Company will also unveil its “Meituan Brain”, an on-going project with the goal to build the world’s largest knowledge map for catering and entertainment. Leveraging AI technology, the brain will enable intelligent local life services, based on its knowledge of relationships between hundreds of millions of users and tens of millions of merchants.

Meituan’s on-demand delivery network completed approximately 2.9 billion deliveries in 2017. The Company has developed a proprietary real-time intelligent dispatch system. Powered by AI technology, the system optimizes order-rider matching based on the real-time locations of delivery riders, and performs approximately 2.9 billion times of the route planning algorithm per hour during daily peak times.
