Before joining the business in 2014, Hampton had a 20-year career at PepsiCo, where he held a number of senior finance and operational roles.

British-based multinational agribusiness company Tate & Lyle has announced the appointment of Nick Hampton as its new chief executive, effective 1 April 2018.

Hampton is currently Tate & Lyle chief financial officer and he succeeds Javed Ahmed who has served as CEO since 2009 and will step down from his role and retire from the company. The process to appoint a new CFO is now underway.

Before joining the business in 2014, Hampton had a 20-year career at PepsiCo, where he held a number of senior finance and operational roles. He previously worked for management consultancy firm Monitor and Walkers Snack Foods. In his new position he will receive an annual salary of £665,000.

Ahmed joined Tate & Lyle in 2009, after the group fell out of the FTSE 100 in the wake of two profits warnings. In 2010, he sold off the company’s lossmaking sugar business — a decision widely welcomed by investors — to focus Tate & Lyle on speciality ingredients, such as sucralose.
