The acquisition would represent the latest move by Chicago-based Conagra to overhaul its portfolio to be more modern and relevant to today’s consumers.

Conagra Brands has plans to acquire Sandwich Bros. of Wisconsin, a Milwaukee-based maker of frozen flatbread sandwiches.

The acquisition would represent the latest move by Chicago-based Conagra to overhaul its portfolio to be more modern and relevant to today’s consumers.

Sandwich Bros. of Wisconsin, which makes breakfast and entree sandwiches, would fit into that category, offering a more premium frozen product with ingredients like Angus beef, chicken raised without antibiotics and Wisconsin cheese.

Earlier this year, Conagra introduced Frontera-branded frozen bowls and skillet meals after buying Frontera Foods, the Chicago-based packaged Mexican food company.

The Sandwich Bros. business brought in about $60 million in net sales for the 12 months ending November 2017.

Conagra, best known for brands like Reddi-Wip, Slim Jim and Orville Redenbacher’s, is investing heavily in snacks.

Sandwich Bros. will help Conagra expand this effort with flatbread sandwiches that are easy to eat on the go. The acquisition also will allow Conagra to expand that concept with other brands.
