Saudi Arabia’s date exports recorded a strong performance in 2025, rising more than 14 per cent year-on-year to nearly SAR2 billion ($533 million), according to the Saudi Press Agency.
The growth reflects a broader upward trend, with exports increasing by almost 60 per cent since 2021. The expansion aligns with the kingdom’s Saudi Vision 2030, which aims to boost the contribution of non-oil sectors, including agriculture, to the national economy.
Saudi Arabia currently exports dates to more than 125 countries. In 2025, production exceeded 1.9 million tonnes, supported by more than 37 million palm trees nationwide.
As part of efforts to strengthen the sector, the Public Investment Fund established Al Madinah Heritage Company in July 2023. The initiative focuses on enhancing the production capacity of premium Ajwa dates in the Madinah region and expanding their global reach.
Globally, the dates market continues to grow steadily. According to Mordor Intelligence, the market is expected to reach $31.39 billion in 2026, up from $29.33 billion in 2025. It is projected to climb to $44.07 billion by 2031, reflecting a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 7.02 per cent between 2026 and 2031.
