Nestlé UAE has signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Emirates Foundation to support ne’ma, the UAE’s national initiative aimed at cutting food loss and waste by 50 per cent by 2030. The agreement was formalized during the Future Food Forum 2025, in the presence of Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, UAE Minister of Economy and Tourism.

Aligned with the UAE’s National Food Security Strategy 2051 and the UN Sustainable Development Goal 12.3, the partnership reinforces Nestlé’s commitment to sustainability and systemic change across the food value chain.

Under the MoU, Nestlé will contribute to the UAE Food Loss and Waste Baseline Study, led by Emirates Foundation under the ne’ma initiative. The company will provide operational data, industry expertise, and collaborative support to help establish national benchmarks and accelerate adoption of ne’ma’s Zero Food Waste Framework.

The collaboration will also extend to public awareness campaigns, youth engagement initiatives, seasonal food rescue efforts such as Ramadan programs, and the development of scalable, industry-wide solutions to curb waste across manufacturing and distribution.

This milestone builds on Nestlé’s longstanding presence in the UAE, where it continues to advance both sustainability goals and social impact through innovation and partnerships.
