SGS, the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification company, recently acquired three additional companies. SGS was included in the prestigious list of the World’s Most Sustainable Companies of 2024. Additionally, SGS expanded its testing capacity for per- and poly-fluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) across North America.
SGS recently acquired three additional companies as part of its strategy to relaunch M&A. These companies include Gossamer Security Solutions (Gossamer) in the United States, as well as Analisis Quimico y Microbiologico SAS (AQM) and Cromanal SAS (Cromanal) in Colombia.
AQM and Cromanal are significant players in the Colombian pharmaceutical testing industry, holding key accreditations and offering microbiology, physicochemical, liquid and gas chromatography services in raw materials and finished products, as well as stability studies and validations. Founded in 1995 and 2006 respectively, AQM and Cromanal are headquartered in Bogota, Colombia, and collectively employ 140 employees. It’s important to note that these acquisitions are subject to antitrust approval.
In July, SGS was included in the prestigious list of the World’s Most Sustainable Companies of 2024, compiled by TIME and data firm Statista. SGS was ranked 6th out of 500 corporates globally and holds the number one position in the Testing, Inspection, and Certification sector.
In June, SGS announced a quadrupling of its testing capacity of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) across North America. This expansion will enhance throughput, secure faster turnaround times, offer more comprehensive investigations, and ensure better-targeted remediation analysis. PFAS are persistent compounds, with some types taking over 1,000 years to degrade, raising public health concerns.
SGS has also signed sustainability report assurance contracts with top listed companies in India and various other Asian countries, expecting significant revenue growth in this area. The Group’s expertise positions SGS as a trusted partner in the expansion of its sustainability assurance services worldwide.
In May, SGS became the first company in the TIC sector to finalise its double materiality assessment in line with Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) requirements. The CSRD significantly increases the number of disclosures companies must make about material or relevant sustainability matters.
SGS has been recognised in the S&P Sustainability Yearbook 2024, ranking among the top 1 per cent of companies in the Professional Services industry. This demonstrates the company’s global efforts in environmental, social, and corporate governance practices.
