Dubai popup as top culinary destination in the world: DET

The report highlights Dubai’s culinary landscape and provides a comprehensive calendar of culinary events that showcase the city’s diverse, authentic, value-based, and experiential culinary experiences

According to the recent Dubai Gastronomy Industry report released by the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET), the city is becoming increasingly popular as a top culinary destination worldwide. The report highlights a remarkable 61 per cent rise in the number of locals dining out, along with a significant increase in the level of satisfaction among foreign visitors in terms of the value for money they receive from the food scene in the city.

The Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE) presented the second annual Dubai Gastronomy Industry Report to restaurateurs, hoteliers, and industry specialists. The report provides key stakeholders with vital statistics and trends that can help them identify areas for growth and acknowledge progress in the next year. The report aims to reinforce Dubai’s status as a global gastronomy hub and aligns with the city’s broader economic vision outlined in the Dubai Economic Agenda 2033 (D33).

The report highlights Dubai’s culinary landscape and provides a comprehensive calendar of culinary events that showcase the city’s diverse, authentic, value-based, and experiential culinary experiences. This culinary excellence aligns seamlessly with the D33 master plan, which aims to double the city’s economy by 2033 and solidify its position as one of the world’s top three cities for both business and leisure.

The report further underscores the city’s gastronomic landscape by acknowledging notable accolades such as two restaurants making it to The World’s 50 Best Restaurants list, 15 in the MENA 50 Best Restaurants, and an impressive 90 Dubai restaurants featured in the MICHELIN Guide Dubai 2023, up from 69 in the previous edition.

The report’s surveys conducted among residents and international visitors provide key takeaways for the over 13,000 restaurants and cafés currently thriving in the emirate’s dynamic ecosystem.
