The production line is considered the most automated in the PepsiCo portfolio in Europe
PepsiCo announced an investment of $13 million in the installation of a fully automated state-of-the-art production line located in the soft drinks factory in Dragomirești, Romania.
The production line is considered the most automated in the PepsiCo portfolio in Europe and can achieve outstanding performance, producing approximately 1 million bottles per day. The energy consumption of this line is reduced by approximately 30 per cent compared to conventional lines, while the efficiency in energy consumption per litre produced is 30 per cent higher. The new line also produces 60 per cent more drinks per unit of time, using 20 per cent less carbon dioxide and reducing water consumption by 30 per cent per litre of drink produced. At the same time, it contributes to reducing the amount of plastic used by approximately 30 tonnes per year.
The new production line is equipped with state-of-the-art technologies, offering an impressive degree of automation. This is fully integrated into the automated flow in the warehouse, via self-guided robots that pick up and store pallets. In this way, the product goes through a fully automated process, from bottling to loading onto trucks, without human intervention. Most of the operations related to the change of glass format, including the change of moulds, are also performed automatically, which leads to increased efficiency in the production process.
