The laboratories in India have been approved by the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) to test and certify food products exported to the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.

The German training, inspection, consultancy, testing and certification giant, TÜV SÜD has announced participation in Gulfood. The expo will be held at the Dubai World Trade Centre from 17th to 21st February. TÜV SÜD’s exhibition kiosk at the summit will be Za’abeel Pavilion ZP-J13. Gulfood will bring together some of the leading food manufacturers, importers, exporters, traders and third-party certification firm on a platform to discuss the future of the global food industry. This convergence of leaders will witness dialogue on changing consumer behaviour and preferences, newer technologies in the industry and food trends to watch out for.

At the expo, TÜV SÜD will showcase its SFDA and Halal capabilities. The food testing laboratories in India have been approved by the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) to test and certify food products exported to the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. Under new SFDA guidelines that come into effect on November 1, 2018, all food products exported to Saudi Arabia must be tested for pesticide residues and contaminants by an approved laboratory in India. Such inspections are necessary for Indian manufacturers to reduce consignment rejection that also helps mitigate financial and reputational loss.

While in Middle East, TÜV SÜD is awarded with comprehensive Halal Accreditation by GAC (Gulf Accreditation Center), EIAC (Emirates International Accreditation Center) and ENAS (Emirates National Accreditation Center). They have also been approved as a certification body by ESMA (Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology) to issue Halal certification. The certification enhances the acceptability of products as it guarantees compliance with procedures defined by Islamic law, the Islamic dietary requirements and lifestyle. The accreditation scope comprises of slaughter houses, food and food services, cosmetic and skincare products, farming and processing, distribution, feed production, transport and storage.
