The new products, Yakult 400 Immune Gut Care and Yakult 400 LT Immune Gut Care, will be launched on June 1, 2026
Yakult Honsha has announced the renewal of its fermented milk beverages Yakult 400 and Yakult 400 LT, into functional foods labelled with benefits for maintaining immune function and improving the intestinal environment. The new products, Yakult 400 Immune Gut Care and Yakult 400 LT Immune Gut Care, will be launched on June 1, 2026.
In line with its corporate philosophy, Yakult has long positioned the immune field as a key area of research and has conducted extensive studies on the immunomodulatory functions of lactic acid bacteria. These new products are built on those research outcomes and align with the company’s long-term vision of evolving into a “healthcare company,” as well as its medium-term management plan (2025–2030), which emphasises pursuing new functional value through strengthened R&D.
This renewal incorporates both Yakult’s longstanding research on the gut health benefits of its proprietary Lactobacillus casei strain Shirota and newly identified immune-supporting functions. By introducing the concept of “immune gut care” into the product names, Yakult aims to enhance brand value and drive sales growth.
With the launch of the new products, the existing Yakult 400 and Yakult 400 LT will be discontinued. The combined daily sales target for the new products from June 2026 to March 2027 is set at 1.271 million bottles.
