SFA revealed that two importers had illegally imported undeclared and under-declared produce such as spring onion, cabbage, beancurd, and peeled garlic
The Singapore Food Agency (SFA) recently seized approximately 160kg of fruits, vegetables, and processed food that were illegally imported from Malaysia. A joint operation between the SFA and the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) was conducted to target delivery trucks that usually transport produce and food products that are intended for direct distribution to retailers and customers. During this operation, ICA officers at Woodlands Checkpoint identified discrepancies in the consignment being transported by a truck. They then referred it to SFA for further checks.
Further checks carried out by SFA revealed that two importers had illegally imported undeclared and under-declared produce such as spring onion, cabbage, beancurd, and peeled garlic. All the illegally imported produce and processed food were seized. SFA is currently carrying out further investigations and will not hesitate to take enforcement action.
