Banza, the U.S. pioneer of chickpea pasta, has become one of the first brands to earn The
Detox Project’s CleanScan certification, a groundbreaking standard for transparency in the
food industry. The certification confirms that Banza products were tested by an accredited
third-party lab for glyphosate and more than 400 pesticides, all showing non-detectable
levels.
Consumers can access full test results instantly by scanning the CleanScan QR code on Banza
packaging — offering unprecedented transparency into what is truly in their food.
“People deserve to know exactly what’s in their food,” said Brian Rudolph, Co-Founder and
CEO of Banza. “CleanScan raises the bar by giving consumers direct access to our lab
results, and we’re proud to lead this level of transparency.”
Banza’s commitment extends beyond certification: all farming partners have pledged to be
desiccant-free, avoiding glyphosate or similar pesticides at harvest. CleanScan standards go
further than raw ingredients, requiring non-detectable pesticide residues in the final packaged
product — for glyphosate, under 0.01 ppm, versus the EU’s 10 ppm or the U.S.’s 8 ppm
limits.
“All of Banza’s pasta, mac & cheese, pizza, and newly launched brown rice products meet
CleanScan standards,” said Henry Rowlands, Founder, The Detox Project. “Banza is showing
that brands can meet today’s consumer demand for cleaner, more transparent food.”
CleanScan-labeled products are now available at Whole Foods, Costco, Target, Wegmans,
and other major retailers nationwide.
