Yakult Group to close plant in China

This move follows the establishment of a stable supply network through the Wuxi and Tianjin plants, managed by its subsidiaries, Wuxi Yakult Co., Ltd., and Tianjin Yakult Co., Ltd.

Japan-based Yakult Group has announced plans to enhance efficiency in its manufacturing and sales operations by closing the Shanghai Plant of Shanghai Yakult. This move follows the establishment of a stable supply network through the Wuxi and Tianjin plants, managed by its subsidiaries, Wuxi Yakult Co., Ltd., and Tianjin Yakult Co., Ltd.

Yakult Honsha Co., Ltd., under the leadership of President Hiroshi Narita, is restructuring its operations in China to boost competitiveness and support sustainable growth in the region. As part of this strategy, the company will dissolve Shanghai Yakult Co., Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Yakult (China) Corporation responsible for both manufacturing and sales.

In conjunction with this reorganisation, Yakult China will establish a new branch in Shanghai to take over the sales division of Shanghai Yakult. Starting December 6, 2024, the new branch will handle product distribution to supermarkets, retail outlets, and home deliveries via Yakult Ladies.

Despite these operational changes, Yakult remains firmly committed to its business in China. The company aims to strengthen its presence in the market by optimising resources, ensuring efficient operations, and continuing to contribute to the health of its customers. These efforts reflect Yakult’s dedication to unlocking the full potential of the Chinese market.
