‘Hohhot’ China’s dairy breeding capital

The World Dairy Industry Conference (WDIC) resulted in a total investment and transaction amount of 208.35 billion yuan ($28.9 billion)

Hohhot, the capital city of Inner Mongolia, was named the Dairy Breeding Capital of China by the Dairy Association of China during the World Dairy Industry Conference.

The city aims to optimise resource allocation, promote high-end innovation in breeding enterprises, and transform achievements into practical productivity.

As a leader in China’s dairy industry, Hohhot has made significant progress in breeding and technology innovation. Collaborations between dairy enterprises, universities, and research institutions have facilitated knowledge exchange and technology transfer, contributing to the rapid development of the local dairy industry.

The city of Hohhot is committed to becoming a hub for dairy breeding and technological advancement, as evidenced by its recognition as the Dairy Breeding Capital of China. This will attract investment and talent, fostering an environment conducive to research and development in the dairy sector.

The city is home to three higher education institutions and seven research institutions related to the dairy industry. It has obtained 44 national-level technology innovation carriers and gathered 24.75 per cent of the country’s talent in the dairy product industry.

It has established long-term strategic partnerships with 13 top domestic universities, over 50 international academic units, and renowned companies.

Various areas are covered by these collaborations, such as forage and animal breeding, farming, planting, dairy technology, and deep processing of dairy products. The entire dairy industry chain now has a complete technological innovation system.

The World Dairy Industry Conference (WDIC) was held in Hohhot promoting industrial chain investment resulting in a total investment and transaction amount of 208.35 billion yuan ($28.9 billion).

The completion of 15 investment projects worth 7.68 billion yuan, along with the finalisation of 61 supply and sales agreements, resulted in a transaction value of 200.66 billion yuan.
