Sweden’s Lantmännen has launched NordPea, a premium pea protein isolate with market-leading sustainability credentials. Lantmännen and Ingredion developed it through a joint initiative to meet demand for competitive, sustainable, high-quality plant proteins.
Lantmännen will manufacture NordPea at its new €100 million plant protein facility in Lidköping, south-west Sweden, which will process about 40,000 tonnes of peas and faba beans annually.
The new ingredient will receive its official launch at Food Ingredients Europe 2026, where it will take centre stage on Lantmännen’s stand (30J62) and feature in the New Product Zone. Lantmännen and Ingredion will also deliver a joint presentation focusing on pea protein in the Exhibitor Showcase Theatre.
NordPea has been developed for use in plant-based food applications, including dairy analogues. It will be produced in a vertical supply chain from peas grown by Lantmännen’s co-operative farmers in Sweden in line with strict agricultural and sustainability standards. The new manufacturing plant at Lidköping has received support from the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency’s climate investment programme.
Fredrik Krook, Managing Director Biorefineries at Lantmännen, commented: “We look forward to introducing NordPea to visitors at Food Ingredients Europe. Pea protein is an increasingly popular choice for food and beverage manufacturers In Europe, and NordPea will help to satisfy this growing demand with a high-quality ingredient produced sustainably.”
