Minebea Intec, a global manufacturer of weighing and inspection technologies, has expanded its portfolio with the launch of Identus 80, a new X-ray inspection system designed for packaged food applications across India, Asia-Pacific, the Middle East and South Africa.
The system combines foreign body detection with in-line quality checks and is designed to help food manufacturers strengthen product safety and quality directly on the production line.
Identus 80 can detect foreign bodies including metal, glass, stone, high-density bone and dense plastics. It also supports comprehensive in-line product quality checks, enabling manufacturers to monitor products while they move through the production process.
According to Minebea Intec, the system uses high-resolution detection technology with a standard resolution of 0.4 mm, supporting the detection of small foreign bodies in products with complex structures. The technology is targeted at applications including desserts, salad mixes and ready meals.
“Identus 80 was developed to enable manufacturers to carry out reliable and comprehensive product inspection directly on the production line,” said Prashanth Gowda, Product Manager, Minebea Intec India. “This helps to strengthen product safety, product quality and brand reputation in equal measure.”
The X-ray inspection system features an intuitive teach-in function designed to simplify product set-up and reduce training and commissioning requirements. Its stainless-steel construction supports hygienic operation and cleaning in demanding food production environments.
Minebea Intec is also offering flexible configuration options, including different reject systems and software settings that can be adapted to specific production requirements.
The Identus 80 will initially be available in India, Asia-Pacific, the Middle East and South Africa. The system is manufactured in India, which the company said will support shorter lead times and faster local service across the target markets.
“With the Identus 80, we are expanding our range in the field of X-ray inspection to include a high-performance solution for high-growth markets,” Gowda added. “At the same time, we are laying the foundations for the further development of Identus.”
