Erkens will focus on strengthening SIG’s operational performance while maintaining cost and capital discipline...

SIG has appointed Ann-Kristin Erkens as Chief Executive Officer with immediate effect, replacing Mikko Keto, as the packaging solutions company moves to strengthen leadership continuity and accelerate the next phase of its transformation programme.

The appointment follows progress made under SIG’s transformation programme, which was launched in the second half of 2025. During the first half of 2026, SIG improved its adjusted EBIT margin to 15.6 per cent, compared with 14.8 per cent in the prior-year period, while free cash flow increased by more than €100 million year-on-year.

The company has also continued to focus on operational efficiency, cost discipline and aseptic system solutions. SIG said its full-year 2026 financial guidance remains unchanged.

Erkens previously served as SIG’s interim CEO from August 2025 until the end of February 2026 and played a central role in developing the company's performance improvement roadmap. She will continue to serve as CFO until a successor is appointed to the role.

Ola Rollén, Chair of SIG, said the Board had concluded that continuity of leadership and pace of execution were priorities at the current stage of the transformation programme.

“Mikko joined SIG at an important point in the Company’s development and has contributed to the progress made over the recent months. I would like to thank him for his commitment to SIG and wish him all the best for the future,” Rollén said.

Welcoming Erkens’ appointment, he added that she knows SIG well and has already successfully led the company as interim CEO, bringing strong leadership and operational and financial expertise to the role.

Erkens joined SIG as CFO in November 2023. Before joining the company, she held senior financial, operational and strategic positions during more than 20 years at Henkel.

As CEO, Erkens will focus on strengthening SIG’s operational performance while maintaining cost and capital discipline. The company also plans to concentrate resources on areas offering opportunities for growth and value creation for customers and shareholders.

“SIG has a strong business, leading technology and long-standing customer relationships. Our priorities are clear: to focus our resources on the areas where we can grow our business to create the greatest value for our customers and shareholders, to further improve operational performance, and to maintain strict cost and capital discipline,” Erkens said.

The leadership team is expected to provide a further update on SIG’s strategy, strategic priorities and medium-term value creation at the company’s Capital Markets Day on October 27, 2026, at The Circle Convention Center at Zurich Airport.

The leadership change comes as SIG continues to execute its transformation agenda, with improved profitability, stronger cash generation and a sharper focus on its aseptic packaging systems business forming key elements of its next phase of growth.
