NSF, a global human health organisation, announced Shell MDS (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd as the first manufacturer in the Asia Pacific region to earn dual certification to NSF 537: PFAS-Free Products and NSF 538: MOAH-Free Certification for Nonfood Compounds and Food Equipment Materials. Certification to both guidelines provides independent verification that the products meet requirements related to PFAS in food contact applications.
NSF 537 and 538 address critical safety concerns across nonfood compounds and food equipment materials, setting new industry standards for consumer protection. As concerns continue to grow about exposure to per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) and Mineral Oil Aromatic Hydrocarbons (MOAH) contamination in food products, the guidelines establish rigorous requirements for materials used in food processing environments.

Shell MDS certified PFAS- and MOAH-free products give manufacturers a verified choice for compliance with emerging regulations across international markets. Furthermore, the certifications provide independent verification of key environmental and safety attributes, while establishing a simplified route to supplier verification through the NSF White Book.
