PepsiCo plans to reduce sodium in 75 per cent of its food products by 2025.
PepsiCo India has cut the amount of sodium included in its Lay’s crisps in order to promote healthier diet choices for consumers. The sodium content has dropped by 13-15 per cent.
PepsiCo plans to reduce sodium in 75 per cent of its food products by 2025. According to PepsiCo, the volume of sodium in these products will be less than 1.3 milligrams per calorie and will not exceed 1.1 grams of saturated fat per 100 calories by 2025. This appeals to the growth of health-conscious consumers who perhaps seek healthier alternatives to snacks typically viewed as being unhealthy.
To further appeal to a growing health- and waste-conscious society, PepsiCo India announced that it aims to reduce its carbon footprint by reducing the size of packaging for Lay’s and its other line of snacks, Kurkure. This will not impact in the quantity of the products.
